30 days ago I started 365 Shelter Dogs, a daily blog posting a photo of a different shelter dog for 365 consecutive days. This first month I’ve mostly been setting up the process to post the dailies and enabling secure commerce for print sales. To be honest 365 shelter dogs came up so fast I wasn’t sure it was even possible. I first thought of it maybe December 22nd and launched it Christmas Day. So I did it and it’s a month out.
The next step will be to create fine art using the shelter dog photos. I attended Imaging USA for inspiration and vendor selection. It confirmed there is a market for combining my photography skills with my husband’s art painting. Together we will create stunning art products to generate fundraising sales to benefit animal rescue.
Thus far due to volume and time constraints, I’ve used my most seasoned skills- shooting hard to photograph subjects. As a long time news photographer I’m looking forward to the more creative aspects of Photoshop, compositing and image manipulation.
